Happiness research is not new. In fact, for more than twenty years psychologists have been studying happy people to find out what they know and do. Happiness classes are taught in colleges-including UCLA and Harvard.
Most people do not really care about the research. They only want to know the results of the studies as they impact their lives.

Interestingly, the research on this topic confirms teachings known for thousands of years, including the Kabbalah and the Emerald Tablet. You see philosophy, religion and science all reveal the same Truths about the Universe. The metaphysical laws of the Universe get confirmed again and again every day in the labs of science.
Not only is metaphysics not woo woo, it is very accurate in its predictions and explanation for how we create our world. Let me share a concrete example to take this discussion out of the theoretical realm into your reality right now.
One common New Age teaching states that what we focus on expands. Wherever you choose to put your attention gets bigger in your life. People who journal every day, writing about something good in their life, create the habit of looking for the good rather than the default behavior of looking for the negative in life.
How does that concept translate into scientific terms? The brain wants to serve you and keep you safe. When your reticular activating system (RAS) notices that paying attention to something, in this case looking for something good to write about each day, the RAS sends an alert that says, "Hey, she is focusing on things that feel good. Let's find all the information and evidence we can to help her with that matter." The brain does not evaluate or label events as good or bad. You focus and it provides the info it thinks you want.
You will begin to create the new habit for finding the good in everything. Your happiness level will soar!
That gratitude increases one's level of happiness by raising the level of well being is not news. Finally scientific research caught up to that fact. Happiness professors require their students to keep gratitude journals. Wise move for their students and for all of us since we impact each other!
A topic I find very interesting involves focus and multitasking. In this Attention Deficit Disorder Society the research shows that multitasking is very stressful while focusing on a single task leads to improved overall well being and happiness.
T. Harv has long taught us to do one thing at 100%. Now science confirms his wisdom. Be fully present at any task at hand (especially when talking with someone) and you will do a better job and feel better about your result and create a more desirable outcome.
The lesson here is that when you do what feels good your world works. You do not need science to tell you what works for you, do you? You know when you live in happiness. Just make the effort to notice when you do.
